NLDS Game 2: The Late Greats

As painful as this is for me to admit, I went to bed at the end of the 6th inning last night. I was worn out from the exhausting game on Saturday, and I didn’t want to be a zombie at work today (somebody has to change the world). The Reds’ 4-0 lead, and Bronson Arroyo’s one-hitter obviously made my decision a little easier. However, I did wake up without prompting at the top of the 9th inning, so I ended up watching the final inning unfold on my phone.

I’m still completely against a team with a better record playing the first two games of a five game series on the road, but until Bud Selig follows Chris Sabo’s Goggles on Facebook, I’m afraid I’ll never be able to get my point across to him. But that’s all a moot point now, isn’t it? All I hoped for was a split in San Francisco. I never dreamed the Reds would be heading back to Cincinnati, up 2-0 after facing Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner. Yet here we are.

After enduring two (relatively) late games over the weekend, Reds fans now get to rearrange their schedules so they can accommodate at least one game that starts at the annoying time of 5:37 PM EST (4:37 PM my time). So, not only do I have to hope to be at my desk for the last hour or so of work, I’ll also need to pray for good cellphone reception on the train on my way home to watch the rest of the game. Yes, I realize that World Series games used to be played in the middle of the day–during the week–but you’re really cramping my style, Bud.

The Reds play the next three games (if necessary) at Great American Ball Park, and while the series if far from done, you have to like their chances of eliminating the Giants at some point between Tuesday and Thursday night.

It’s Probably Gonna Happen (Maybe)

Just announced today is that Wednesday’s game is at 4pm.

All because they only put the NLDS and ALDS on one network.

Also, they’ve already said that this schedule is only for this year. It’s dumb, but not something that’s carrying forward.
