The Big Payback
Every position player had at least one hit tonight except Corky Miller and Jay Bruce. How bad do you think Jay Bruce feels to be in the same company as Corky Miller?
Scott Rolen is on a mission. A mission to destroy baseballs. If my last name was Rawlings, I’d be very afraid.
But let’s talk about Aaron Harang. The big-lug threw 7.0 innings when the Reds desperately needed him to do just that. He gave up only five hits against a pretty good offensive team, and the two runs he gave up came off a guy hitting his first homer ever. It happens.
The Reds had a 6-2 lead heading into the 9th, so what does Dusty Baker do — he puts Francisco Cordero out there to throw an inning, where he promptly gave up two hits and a run. I didn’t watch the game so I don’t know what Baker’s thought process was for the move (assuming he had one), but I’m going to go ahead and say it was a bad idea.
The important thing is the Reds are back in the win column and I get to watch the Reds on GameCast tomorrow afternoon while pretending to work.
Go Dodgers!
