You Wreck Me
June 8, 2010
You can point the finger at the bullpen for blowing this game, but Johnny Cueto has to take some of the blame.
While 6.0 innings and 4 runs isn’t terrible, the Reds starting pitchers need to realize that they need to do better than 102 pitches in 6 innings (Harang threw 98 pitches in 4 innings on Friday).
With Francisco Cordero essentially being a walking atomic bomb, and the announcement that Arthur Rhodes has a sore foot, the Reds need to really concentrate on some long outings by their starters to give this bullpen a little bit of a breather.
UPDATE: When I said the bullpen needed help, this is not what I had mind.

It seems like the Reds are throwing an awful lot of pitches these days. Their recent slide is due to the fact that they can’t seem to get out of innings faster.
