Something tells me that Homer Bailey (6.1 innings, 7 hits, 8 Ks, 3 ER), Drew Stubbs, and the rest of the Cincinnati Reds for that matter, wish they could play the Pirates all the time.
The Reds current roster is made up mostly of a bunch of guys I’m not familiar with, yet they’ve somehow managed to win 8 of their last 10 games. I’ll admit, I’m glad this team isn’t rolling over and playing dead.
In other news…
2009 marks the first year in recent memory (possibly ever) that I didn’t see the Reds play, somewhere, at least once.
Part of that has to do with my reluctance to set foot in the piss-trough known as Wrigley Field, and part of it has to do with the fact that the Brewers/Reds series never fell during a convenient time for me. It also doesn’t help that the last time I was in Cincinnati was Valentine’s Day weekend to see “Friday the 13th” with my best friend.
Priorities.
I guess what I’m saying is: It’s tough finding the motivation to see these guys play, anymore. I hope that changes soon.
So, it’s strange that the one and only time I’ll get to see two (former) Cincinnati Reds play this season will be in Toronto on Friday night, at a Blue Jays/Yankees game.
That’s right, Miss Sabo’s Goggles and I will be travelling north of the border to see Jerry Hairston, Jr. and Edwin Encarnacion play. Well, that’s not the reason we’re going to Toronto, but we will be seeing a game while we’re there.
And to think, last Labor Day Weekend I also crossed another baseball field off my list (Fenway Park).
Be sure to watch the national news on Sunday night, because if they have a story about a guy going over Niagara Falls in a barrel yelling, “Chris Sabo rocks,” it was me.

Glad to see that you aren’t putting money into the Cubs and Brewers revenue streams. That’s being more a fan than going into those ballparks with a Reds shirt on.
