It’s All Gonna Break
If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Edinson Volquez leaves the game after one inning because of numbness in his fingers. Wonderful.
In my expert medical opinion it sounds like Volquez has a pinched nerve in his back somewhere, but without a translator, I have no way of getting my diagnosis to him. If one of my readers could help me with that, I’d appreciate it.
Seriously, though, numb fingers doesn’t sound good, but it also doesn’t sound like — oh, I don’t know — perpetual dizziness, so I’m not too worried. Yet. If Bronson Arroyo can pitch with Creed-hand, then Volquez can battle through this.
The bigger story here (assuming you choose to ignore Jay Bruce’s 0-3 night) is that the bullpen pitched EIGHT INNINGS in relief and got the win. That’s just crazy talk. I mean, the pitching line for the Reds last night looked like an old Eric Milton start — five relievers were used!
The much-needed win gets the Reds back to four games above .500 and 2.5 games out of first place. It also (temporarily) gets me off the ledge.
