All-Time Most Hated: Milwaukee Brewers Edition

May 6, 2009

Here’s something new for you to chew on…

I got this idea after a “heated” discussion erupted on the Chris Sabo’s Goggles Facebook page.  The Reds were playing the Braves – whom I’ve hated since the 1990′s – and some of us started to list off all the Braves we’ve hated since the beginning of time.

Chipper Jones’ name obviously came up, as did John Rocker’s, but the conversation came to a screeching halt when I suggested Sid Bream (damn him and that mustache…).

So, it got me thinking (uh oh) — at the beginning of each series I’ll open up a discussion for All-Time Most Hated {INSERT TEAM NAME HERE}.  This will be an opportunity to chime in and list your least favorite/most hated player from that team (any era).  If you want to include why you hate that player, that’s cool, but I realize some players are self explanatory.

Like Sid Bream.

Now, I have to admit, I can’t think of many Milwaukee Brewers that I’ve hated over the years, but I’ll start the discussion with Gary Sheffield.

Play by the rules, Aaron, or I’ll have to ask you to sit in the corner.

To get into the spirit, I just looked at their starters through the years. No hate players, but here’s two I hated to see come to the plate in a big situation: Geoff Jenkins and Bill Hall.

I think we’ve decided that, overall, the Milwaukee Brewers are a nice bunch of guys. Good for them.

Bill Hall or Ryan Braun. Either of them absolutely own Reds pitching.

Derrick Turnbow. Why? Because he was so ugly I had to turn off the TV. Runner-up: Russell Branyan, for playing better with the Brew Crew in ’04 and ’05 than with the Reds in ’03.
    Mature? No– but it’s true!
Favorite: Former Red Brad “The Animal” Lesley. I love this kind of Relief Pitcher. In the “Mad Hungarian” mold.

Turnbow was/is one ugly dude. He had this John Rocker attitude about him, but it never took off because the guy sucked.

He went from AWESOME to CRAP for the Brewers in a hurry.

I’m upset that I missed this debate about the Braves because I hated Rafael Belliard with a white hot passion.
