A Worrying Thing
Even though Spring Training wins & losses don’t interest me as much as individual performances, it’s nice to see the Reds winning some decent games, and keeping it close in others.
Speaking of individual performances… Francisco Cordero got rocked.
If you’re keeping track at home, Cordero has given up eight runs in three innings. Exactly what you want to see from your $46 million closer a few weeks before the regular season begins.
Also concerning — Edwin Encarnacion has a sore left wrist. The Cincinnati Reds are hardly a deep ball club, but they are especially not deep at third base. The Reds say the injury isn’t serious, but we were also told in March 2008 that Alex Gonzalez would be back in a few weeks.
I have to admit, I love the fact that we have three guys competing for the fifth spot in the rotation, and either one of them seem like they would be a great addition. It’s very comforting to know that if (Heaven forbid) one of our regular starters goes down, we’ll have a couple of options to step in.
I still haven’t watched one second of the WBC, and I’m okay with that.
