Home Sweet Home

From this point on the Cincinnati Reds will have to play their legendary 2008 season in someone else’s backyard.
(Pause to wipe a lone tear from my eye)
Gone are the comforts of Great American Ball Park and its dozens of fans. Gone are the smells of Gold Star Chili Skyline Chili wafting from the concourse. Gone are 303-foot homeruns to left field.
Watch out, Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals because the Little Red Machine is coming to town!
This time next week the Reds will be done playing baseball until Opening Day 2009 when they play the Mets at GABP on April 6. The beginning of yet another successful Cincinnati Reds campaign, I’m sure.
The Cincinnati Enquirer had an interesting stat this morning:
The 2008 Reds had a 44-41 record against teams with winning records.
What the article failed to mention is the other stat:
The 2008 Reds had a 29-42 record against teams with losing records.
As painful as this season was to watch, the 2008 Cincinnati Reds did accomplish something that no other team has ever done in Major League Baseball history – they had three games with seven or more homers in the same season.
I know… I don’t care, either.
