He Didn’t Look Like a 16-Game Loser
It’s hard to do anything against Brandon Webb – especially when you’re the Cincinnati Reds – but Aaron Harang did his best to keep the Reds in the game until the end. In fact, Harang was out-pitching Webb for most of the game. Unfortunately, Harang had to leave the game an inning before Webb did. That was the difference.
(I’m looking in your general direction, Jared Burton)
Harang still doesn’t look like Harang, but 7.0 innings, 4 hits and 0 earned runs is encouraging. If he can finish out the season with a couple of more starts like that, Dusty Baker will have a lot more confidence to throw Harang out there on two days rest to pitch six innings in a meaningless extra-inning game during the last week of the season.
Do you see what I did there? With the crack about Baker over-using pitchers.
Comedy gold, I tell you.
