Big Red Monstah!

August 31, 2008

Now that I’ve gotten my Fenway Park excursion (and the gratuitous boobie-picture) out of the way, it’s back to business.

While I was in Boston the Reds won three in a row and picked up two (2!) games on the stupid Cubbies.  The winning streak will end tomorrow because the Reds are facing Roy Oswalt. It was fun while it lasted.

If I actually paid attention to the schedule I would know that the Reds play the Pirates next, not the Astros.

I’m not sure if it’s still mathematically possible for the Reds to even win the NL Central, but let’s spend the next few days pretending that it is.

By the way, Fenway Park is beautiful. A life-changing experience.

To quote Ferris Bueller:

“It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.”

It didn’t hurt that we were eight rows behind homeplate.

It was incredibly strange seeing Ken Griffey, Jr. in a White Sox uniform (and wearing #17… and playing in centerfield), but he got a warm and genuine response from the Boston faithful every time he came to the plate.

Especially when he struck out to end the game.

Choice. How’d Junior’s skills look in CF?

He really didn’t have many plays in the outfield, but he did run down one ball in left-center that gave us all a glimpse of the Junior of old.
