What did I miss? Anything? I didn’t think so.
Thanks to a cancelled flight out of Atlanta yesterday morning I got to spend the day wandering around the World of Coca-Cola (all you can drink Coke products for “just” $13!) and taking a tour of the CNN studios. Unfortunately, Nancy Grace wasn’t there to receive a quick boot to the face – compliments of me. Pity.
Homer Bailey’s latest temporary stay with the Reds started off on a pretty good note yesterday (other than that whole giving-up-a-homerun-to-a-former-American-League-pitcher thing), but my younger/taller brother assures me that the opposition is still hitting the ball really hard off of Bailey.
I suppose the same could be said for most Reds pitchers.
Edinson Volquez won’t be starting the All-Star Game, and I’m okay with that. I’m glad he made the team, but after what happened to Harang this season, I maintain that rest is very, very important for your pitching staff. In the case of David Weathers, I suggest indefinite rest.
Speaking of… do you know when would be a good time to trade David Weathers?
Yesterday.
The All-Star Game is that time of the year when baseball fans can celebrate their favorite sport by watching MLB showcase their “best” talent. Or, at least, the best players that beer-soaked, hot dog-stuffed baseball fans want us to think are the best.
The All-Star Game is also that time of the year when Reds fans can switch their attention from the Reds to Bengals training camp. Yes, the Reds have won 7 of 10, but this team is on the brink of becoming irrelevant very soon. And when I say irrelevant, I mean to Reds fans, because to every other baseball fan the Reds have been irrelevant for a couple of months.
Sorry, but it’s true.
