Battle of Who Couldn’t Care Less

June 23, 2008

I’m not going to complain about taking two of three from the hated Yankees (I even got a phone call from a Red Sox fan, thanking the Reds for doing their part), but I’m also not going to get excited about the series win.

The expression, “too little, too late” comes to mind.

Daryl Thompson made his Major League debut on Saturday - at Yankee Stadium, no less – and pitched five shutout innings.  Ask me again in a month how I feel about the kid, but color me impressed by his debut.  Edinson Volquez went out there and did what he always does (read: be awesome), and Johnny Cueto kept the Reds in Sunday’s game until my boy Gary Majewski came in and blew the game.

These last three games are the perfect example of how frustrating this 2008 Reds team can be.  How they can lose five games in a row at home, then go to Yankee Stadium and win two of three is beyond me.

The Reds are off today, then they’ll start a three game series in Toronto.  They have a new manager named Cito.  He used to be their old manager, too.  Those crazy Canucks.
