“Hi, Barry? It’s Walt Jocketty with the Reds. Yeah, the Cincinnati Reds. I know it’s been a few years since you’ve played shortstop, but I was wondering how you’d feel about putting on a Reds uniform one last time. Hello? Barry? Are you there?”
Let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if this conversation actually takes place in the next couple of days.
The Reds have lost not one, not two, not three, but four (4) starting shortstops this season. First there was the Sports Illustrated cover curse, then the Madden video game cover curse, then there was the drummer from Spinal Tap curse, now you can add shortstop for the Reds curse.
