Not Bad… I Guess
What do you think, does this Bruce kid have a future?
(From the Cincinnati Enquirer)
First at-bat: Walked on four pitches. Stole second as part of a double-steal with Jerry Hairston Jr.
Second at-bat: Lined a single to left field on a 1-2 pitch.
Third at-bat: Walked on five pitches. Ended up scoring on Adam Dunn’s three-run homer.
Fourth at-bat: Lined a 2-0 pitch into left field with the bases loaded to drive in a run.
Fifth at-bat: Worked the count to 3-2, fouled off two pitches and then lashed a double off the wall in right field to drive in a run.
Final Line
3-3, 2 BB, 2 RBI
Not a bad Major League debut. Certainly better than the numbers a certain other Reds centerfielder has (or hasn’t) been putting up.
